The 2022 edition of the National Construction Code (NCC) introduced a new limit for the allowable level of lead in plumbing products used for drinking water.
Since the announcement in 2022, Brasshards Group has been planning our transition to lead free ahead of the 1 May 2026 deadline. As part of the Group, Brasshards Plumbing products that come into contact with drinking water will transition to lead free in accordance with this plan.
We have been manufacturing fully compliant lead free plumbing products since we received our certification in December 2023.
Brasshards Group’s Current Lead Free Certifications:
- AS3688:2016: Water supply and gas systems – Metallic fittings and end connectors
- AS3718:2021: Water supply – Tapware
Our transition will be a staged rollout to support the supply chain and mitigate disruptions. Where possible, product lines will transition within their range or categories to streamline the process and reduce administration for our customers.
